The problem

What does a wall look like when something’s wrong?

You might notice a stair-step crack, an opening joint, a wall that appears to lean or bow, moisture marks, or a section that has been patched more than once. An outside retaining wall can also shift or lose blocks. Photos of the full wall and the damaged area help show the context.

The cause

What’s behind the movement?

Water, soil pressure, settlement, aging materials, and earlier repairs may affect block and foundation walls. The visible damage alone doesn’t tell the whole story. A responsible next step is to understand the conditions of that particular wall before deciding what masonry work is appropriate.

The repair

What foundation work does A+ Masonry do?

Ryan’s masonry work includes basement and foundation repair and reinforcement, jacking, bracing, footings, and block wall reconstruction. The actual approach depends on the wall and site conditions. Ryan can discuss the masonry scope after looking at the situation; when a condition calls for a separate professional assessment, that should be addressed as part of planning the work.

See the work, not a sales pitch.

What photos are most helpful?

Send one photo of the entire wall, one or two close-ups of the damage, and a view of the outside if relevant. Include your city and tell Ryan whether you’ve noticed a change.

Can you tell what’s needed from a photo?

Photos are a helpful starting point, but they don’t replace seeing the wall and its surroundings. Ryan can talk with you about the next step.
